OK, so this picture wasn't actually taken during ww2 and is more recent, but the weapons haven't really changed that much. The major players of World War II came up with several weapons to fight their enemies. The major categories include small arms, heavy weapons, artillery, armour, vehicles, aircraft and marine. Examples are pistols, rifles, machine guns, tanks, fighters and bombers.Even the Home Front Guards (Dad's army) had weapons, although these were never used as the enemies never managed to successfully invade Britain, but they would have practised with weapons left over from the 1st world war, bayonets mostly. Some would have made their own weapons for example tying a blade to the end of a broom handle. They did get to practise with real weapons too, and would often practise with other \home guards across their region.
